Leon "Pop" Edwards

Leon is preceded in death by his parents Jay and Freda Edwards; sister, Frances Hinkle; brothers Andrew, Chester, Alton, and James Edwards.

Leon is survived by his wife of 65 years, Nelia Edwards; sons Steve (Cindy) Edwards and Mike (Karen) Edwards; grandchildren, Brad (Jessica) Edwards, Lindsey (Jeremy) Morris, Barrett Edwards, Ciara Edwards and Teague Edwards; great grandson, Josiah Phillips; sister Wynelle (Frankie) Dollar; and several nieces

Leon was a member of Gardendale First Baptist Church and actively involved in the Camp David Ministry. He retired from Drummond Coal Mines after 30 years and then worked an additional 10 years at Gambles Parts Dart. Leon loved spending time at the lake or hunting but he especially loved being surrounded by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to be made to Gardendale First Baptist Camp David Fund.

Services for Leon will be held at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071. A visitation Sunday, December 26, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Monday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM; funeral service at 2:00 PM, followed by his burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
