

Matthew was born in Toledo, Ohio in 1989. He spent his early years in Sylvania, Ohio, later moving with his family to Aurora, Illinois, then to Stockbridge, Georgia and finally with his mother and siblings to Hayden, Alabama where he graduated high school. He enlisted in the US Army at the age of 18 and served five years, which included two overseas tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. Matthew loved his country and served it well.
Most recently, Matthew was a full-time welding student at Wallace Community College and was an excellent student. He worked several different jobs throughout the years including restaurant server, landscaping, electrical, construction and cabinetry. He enjoyed working on his cars and trucks and he loved the outdoors.
Matthew is survived by his daughter Haislee Skye Carter whom he deeply loved and cared for, his mother, Sherri Stults (Chris) of Fultondale, Alabama, father Richard Carter (Patricia) of McDonough, Georgia and Ewa Beach, Hawaii, his sisters, Mikaila Cassell (Jeremy) of McDonough, Georgia, Madison McCugh (Jon) of Birmingham, Alabama, and Macey Berry (Noah) of Humboldt, Tennessee, his step siblings Adrianna Stults, Gabrielle Stults and Becker Stults, his grandparents David Carter and Helen Carter, and Julia Roberts, his love Ashlee Hall along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his grandfather and mentor, Arthur Roberts.
Matthew will be missed far more than words can express. He will be forever in our hearts until we meet again.
A memorial service for Matthew will be held Friday, January 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Ridout's Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL 35071.
