

Orlen Quinn Waid, age 85 of Winston County passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. He was born on October 11, 1938 to the late Lester and Zettia Waid. He loved the Lord and was a longtime member, deacon, and elder of Worldwide Church of God. Orlen is a graduate of Addison High School. He retired as a supervisor from Diamond Rubber Products and then became the owner of Roller Tech. Orlen fell in love with golfing and became a member of Quail Ridge Country Club; when he wasn’t on the golf courses he was gardening, repairing small engines, helping others in need, cheering on University of Alabama sports, and making memories with his family.
Orlen is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Inez Carter Waid; his children and their spouses, Pam and Timothy “Mack” Beasley, Harold and Tracy Waid, and Tammy and Barry Sawyer; his grandchildren and their spouses, Jason Beasley, Amanda and Myles Babcock, Kayla and William Driver, Austin and Katie Waid, Graham Waid, Abigail and Trevor McClanahan, and Katie and Willie Scott; great grandchildren, Caleb Babcock, Pierce Babcock, Ryker Babcock, Wyatt Driver, Abbey Driver, and Tegan Scott; his siblings, Larry and Ricki Waid, Lester Benjamin “LB” and Reba Waid, and Loaine Rampley; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will begin at 3:00 pm with burial to immediately follow at Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Orlen.
