

Age 75, of Cullman Al., formerly of Gardendale, passed away October 18. She was baptized at Hopewell Baptist Church. As a graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School she went on to work for the federal government and retired after 25 years of service. During that time she held many interesting positions including one in which she traveled the state to administer the Civil Service exam. Eventually she became a benefits authorizer for the Social Security Administration in Birmingham. She then retired to Smith Lake with her husband of 58 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents Hortense and John D. Hall, 2 brothers, Donald Hall and infant brother, Norman, 3 sisters, Barbara Walden, Mary Ruth Story and Dorothy Sims. She is survived by her husband, James (Jimmy) Hathcox, and 2 children, Mickey Hathcox (wife-Trish) and Pam Thomas (husband-Allen). Grandchildren Nicole Raughton (Donny), Garrett Hathcox (Lara), Natalie Williams (Zac) and Alaina Thomas, 7 great grandchildren, her brother Edward Hall and several beloved nieces and nephews. Many family friends think of her as their second mother. Most have children who call her Grandmother Patsy and she considered them all family as well.
Visitation will be at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on October 20th at 6 PM. Funeral services will also be held at Ridout’s on October 21st at 2 PM, with a short graveside service to follow.
