She was a homemaker, artist, housepainter, seamstress, cake decorator, bird watcher and possessed many other talents.
She had a God given talent for taking care of children and raised her own plus over 30 additional children. Some came into her home for only a few months, some came and stayed for many years. They were all loved and treated as her own.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Winford Owen Strickland, her son Gordon Bradford Strickland, brothers J.R. Hinson and Clinton Hinson, sister Kathleen Hinson McGraw.
Survivors include her sons Winford Owen Strickland II, David Keith Strickland and daughter Judith Strickland Freeman, grandchildren: Winford Owen Strickland III, Daniel Gordon Strickland, Jessica Bell Whitley, Amanda Marie Bell, David Keith Strickland II and Lane Allen Freeman II; and 10 great grandchildren. One sister, Juanita Vickers. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening, November 27th at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 5 until 7 PM followed by Graveside services on Wednesday at 11 AM in Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Garrdendale, AL.
