Rita Smith

Rita retied from Walmart after 25 years of service where she served as a Customer Service Manager. She was a member of Fulton Springs Baptist Church, Fultondale, Alabama. She loved gardening and growing her flowers. Her greatest passion was her grandson and she enjoyed watching his football games and other activities.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Pauline Powell, her loving husband, Ronald Smith, and a sister, Evanda Alexander.

Rita is survived by her son, Keith Smith and his girlfriend, Julie Lively whom Rita considered a daughter-in-law; a daughter, Terra Smith; a brother, Donald Powell (Loretta); a sister, Marianne Collins; a grandson Noah Turner Smith; Julie's daughter, Emerson "Emmie" Lively whom Rita loved as a granddaughter, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services for Rita will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023 in the Oakwood Memorial Garden, Mausoleum Chapel, 2100 Moncrief Road, Gardendale, AL. A time of visitation to begin at 1:00 PM in the chapel, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. She will be entombed in the Mausoleum, following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be given to Keith Smith for the care of Rita's sister and niece. They may be given at the time of the service or mailed to Keith Smith, 26 Waterford Place, Trussville, AL 35173.
