Ron was born March 12, 1956 and grew up in Boldo, Alabama, where he graduated from Curry High School. He began his career with Alabama Power before finding his calling in real estate in 1984. Ron went on to build a long and successful career in the field, spending many years living and working in Shelby County at a time when the county experienced exponential growth. At the height of his career, he was frequently ranked as a top volume producer in the Birmingham area - a testament to his dedication, integrity, and natural ability to connect with people. He found tremendous joy in helping families find their first home or their forever home.
Ron truly never met a stranger. He genuinely cared for others and loved to talk, share stories, and listen. His warmth, humor, and sincerity left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Ron loved hunting and fishing with his friends. In particular his trips to Canada to hunt elk and bison were among his favorites.
A devoted Christian, Ron was baptized and found strength and comfort in his faith. He enjoyed listening to the preachings of John Hagee and Billy Graham and valued the guidance his faith provided throughout his life.
Above all, Ron was a devoted son, husband, father, and proud “Papa.” He loved bird watching and sitting outside with his wife Kim. He delighted in his two granddaughters and cherished time spent with them, whether fishing together or watching softball tournaments.
Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Kilgo; his father, Lawrence Kilgo; his older sister, Phyllis DeJong (Don); his twin sister, Rhonda Wilson (Roger); and his nephew, Nathan Kilgo.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kim Kilgo; his brother, David Kilgo (Sondra); his daughter, Candace Connell (Brandon); his granddaughters, Maggie Mae Connell and Eva Marie Connell; his stepson, Taylor Reed Coe; and multiple nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
