

Rose married in the eleventh grade at 18 years of age. She raised her family of six children and completed her GED after her children graduated. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and she took a trip to Israel in her 50’s and experienced baptism in the Jordan River. She was a substitute teacher at Moody Elementary School. She and her late husband were very active in the community and started several businesses. They owned and operated Town-N-Country Trailer Park in Leeds, AL, where they raised their six children. They owned the High Low RV Dealership in the state of Alabama. They moved to Chattanooga, TN and purchased, Boardwalk Fries at the Hamilton Mall. They moved to Nashville and purchased Broadway Fish and Fries. They moved back to Moody, AL and purchased David’s Hot Dogs in Irondale, Al. They moved to Childersburg, AL and Opened Camper Town RV Sales in Childersburg which is in operation now.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, James Valley and Sophia Harrison; her loving husband of 62 years, Jim Cooley; two brothers, James Harrison, Jr and Tom Harrison; brother-in-law, John Gustin; son-in-law, David Belcher; and a grandson, Jared Glenn White.
Rose is survived by two sons, Jim Dean “Jim Dandy” Cooley (Tammie) and Anthony Joe “Tony” Cooley (Jennifer); four daughters, Rose Chere’ Belcher (Marvin), Suanne Cooley “Sue” White (Rod), Peggy Cooley Sims (Donald “Don” Ray), and Gina Cooley Lathem (Donald, “Don” Jr); sister, Peggy Harrison Gustin; grandchildren: Stephanie Belcher; John Galvagni, Brandon Belcher, Tanya Goodwin, Derek White (Amanda), Jessica Cooley Lane (Ryan) Andrew Cooley (Shannon), Ashley-Rose Cooley Chandler (Lane), Erica Cooley, Morgan Cooley, Donald “Chase” Sims (Rachel), Wesley “Cole” Sims, Zachary Cooley Lathem (Kirsten “Kiki”), Landon Nickerson Lathem (Krista), and Savannah Brooke Lathem; great-grandchildren: Mia Rose Galvagni, Jordan Belcher, Noah White, Carter White, Braylon Cooley, Benton Cooley, Bronson Cooley, Alexia Lane, Barron Lane, Harrison Lane, Dottie Lane, Adelyn Jane Lathem, Reid Walter Lathem, and Luke Elijah Lathem. Rose also has many other family members and a host of friends.
Celebration of life services will be on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel, 2029 Decatur Highway, Gardendale, AL with a time of visitation to begin at 1:00pm; service at 2:00pm followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
