

Sidney “Sid Vicious” Mark Carroll, age 59, (April 7, 1957-February 11, 2017), Trussville, Alabama – Heaven gained a true angel on February 11, 2017. Sid was predeceased by his parents, Clifford Mark Carroll, Jr. and Margaret Wilson Carroll, and his mother-in-law, Thelma Woodard, his grandparents Clifford and Malene Carroll and Edgar and Lula Wilson. He is survived by his wife Pamela Woodard Carroll, and his daughter Lillian Lee Carroll. Siblings include Sheila Carroll Colbert (Malcolm), Flowery Branch, Georgia; Ernie Carroll (Renay), Oneonta, Alabama; Deborah Carroll Driskill (Ronnie), Trussville, Alabama; sister-in-law: Marilyn Woodard Cruce, Hanceville, Alabama; nieces Lauren Driskill Owens (Darin), Lindsey Driskill Wilson (Jason), and Erin Carroll and nephew: Nathan Carroll. Aunt Gladys Carroll, White Bluff, Tennessee. Great nephews, a great niece and many friends and family members. Sid developed a love for flying at a young age. When he was old enough to work, he got a job at the airport so he could be around airplanes. As soon as he graduated high school, he obtained his private pilot’s license. Shortly, thereafter, he enlisted in the Alabama Air National Guard, was commissioned as an officer and went to pilot training where he qualified as an RF-4C pilot. The unit’s mission transitioned to air refueling so Sidney had the opportunity to also fly the KC-135 Stratotanker until his retirement in 1996. While in the Guard, he began flying for Eastern Airlines. He later started flying for United Airlines, where he remained a Captain flying 757/767’s until his illness. Flying may have been his first love but his wife Pam and his daughter Lilley were his greatest loves. Pam was his true soulmate and completed his life, while Lilley was the joy of his life. Sid was always willing and wanted to help anyone--his friends, family and strangers who were in need. He flew rescue dogs to their new homes and volunteered for Dreams on Wings. Sid left a forever mark in the hearts and lives of everyone who knew that Sid m. Most importantly, Sidney knew Jesus Christ as his personal savior. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Highlands Chapel at Church of the Highlands, Grants Mill Campus. Visitation at 1:00 p.m. and a reception after the service at the church.
