Susan W. Jarvis

Susan W. Jarvis of Gardendale, AL passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the age of 77. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who was very much loved and will be greatly missed. Susan was a member of Gardendale’s Mt. Vernon’s United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her “Red Hat Society” and Bunco friends. She retired from teaching school at Gardendale Elementary in 1997 after a 35 year career. She loved to travel when she was able and always pulled for her Alabama Crimson Tide. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Amy Wiggins; a brother, William H. Nation; sisters, Shirley Ann York and Betty Jane Julian. Susan is survived by her son, Curt Jarvis (Christina); and her daughter, Claire Jarvis Tavel (Tim); grandchildren, Tyler Tavel, Drake Tavel, Cooper Jarvis, and Darby Jarvis.

Services will be held on Wednesday, November 22nd at 2 pm with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Beta Chi Alpha Delta Cappa benefitting Gardendale Elementary School in honor of Susan Jarvis.
