Thurman a resident of Gardendale, AL, went home to be with the Lord Thursday at the age of 90. He served our country in the U.S. Navy and his years of service included the invasion at Sicily, Salento, and Normandy Beach on D-Day. He was a longtime member of the Pineywood Baptist Church serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He retired from L&N Railroad where he was employed as a R.R. Agent.
Thurman was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Birtha Marie Holland Dial, a daughter, Ann Dial Tatum; 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Thurman is survived by his sons; Thomas H. Dial (Lucy), David F. Dial, M. Dale Dial; daughters, Aquila Dial Branham (David), Pascal Dial Crowder (Richard), Beth Dial Wallace and Sheila Dial Carson (Mike); brother, Pierce Dial; sister, Lavara Jo Dial McGriff; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Services will be held on Monday, Nov 16th, at the Pineywood Baptist Church in Gardendale, AL, with a visitation from 11:30am until 2:00pm; a funeral service at 2:pm followed by his burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens in Gardendale, AL, with military honors.
