Velma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Talton Lee Whitehead; a son, James “Jimmy” Whitehead and seven siblings.
She is survived by her son, Jerry Whitehead (Dee); daughter in law, Sue Whitehead, brother, J.D. Ellis; sister, Bertha Johnston; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
Services will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Monday, March 28th, 2016 with a visitation to begin at 1:00pm; funeral service at 2:00pm followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
