

Vonda Lee Drinkard passed away peacefully in her sleep at 3:15 am Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the age of 90. Vonda was born in Crane Hill, Alabama on March 29, 1926. Her parents were Charlie Johnson and Dona Lee Moon. She married Claude B. Drinkard of Cullman, Alabama on March 20, 1946, and they remained together for sixty-six years. Together they had three children and eleven grandchildren. In addition to being a tireless wife, mother and homemaker, Vonda and her daughter Sharlotta owned and operated a dress boutique known as “Image’s, Bridal and Pageant” in the city of Gardendale for twenty-three years from 1983 to 2006. Vonda was a loving, kind, and gentle wife and mother, active in her community and considered by those that knew her well to be a true representative of the virtuous woman as describe in Proverbs 31.
Vonda was preceded in death by her husband, Claude B. Drinkard, her grandson, Nathan Kyle Drinkard, her siblings, Minnie Leola Johnson, Dewy Leroy Johnson, Marlin Lenzy Johnson, a foster brother Wiley Milligan and Tressie Lee Murray.
Vonda is survived by her children, Rexel Drinkard and his wife Cindy Drinkard of Hernando, Mississippi, her daughter, Scarlett Hall and her husband Wayne Hall of Eagle, Alaska, and her daughter Sharlotta Savany and her husband Fadell Savany of Mount Olive, Alabama; two sisters, Florence Graves and her husband Grady of Dallas Texas and Lorene McDaniel and her husband Frank of Gardendale, Alabama; eleven grandchildren, Racheal Drinkard, Hanna Drinkard, Lydia Drinkard, Moriah Drinkard, Joshua Drinkard, Matthew Hall, Jason Donaldson, Kale Donaldson, Fadel Savany, and Aden Savany.
Services to celebrate her life will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at 4:00pm with visitation beginning at 3:00pm at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel followed by her burial in Oakwood Memorial Gardens, Gardendale, AL.
