BLACKWELL, WILLIAM DAVID age 88 died February 20, 2013. He was born September 9, 1924, in Birmingham, Alabama. He served his country for 4 years in the Navy and 20 years in the Air Force. He served his Lord as a Lay Minister for 17 years at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He worked for Liberty National Insurance Company for 15 years. He is preceded in death by his mother Effie Tennyson, father Harry Blackwell, sister, Laverne Starnes, and infant child Kimberly. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Blenda Blackwell, children Brenda (William) Sims, Pamela (David) Eskridge, grandchildren Kimberly Treslar, Allen (Christyn) Eskridge and Megan Eskridge, great grandchildren Kaitlyn (Nicholas) Ross and Waylon Tubbs; sister, Evelyn Cox; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, Feb. 24th at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Gardendale, with Pastor David Moerbe officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville. Visitation will also be on Sunday, from 1 – 2 p.m. at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
