Age 92, of Clayton, NC, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011. He was born in Hackleburg, AL to the late John Irvin Dickinson and Sarah Burleson Dickinson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-seven years Paralee Wiginton Dickinson. Lushion was a member of the Church of Christ and served as an elder in the church. He loved to garden, golf, and fish. He was a World War II Army veteran and worked for Ryder Truck Lines in Birmingham for forty-two years. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, William L. (Bill) Dickinson, Jr. and Cynthia (Cindi) Pike Dickinson, two grandsons, William L. Dickinson III and Robert Wayne Dickinson, and one great-grandson, Jared Robert Dickinson. He was predeceased by three brothers, James Louis Dickinson, Gervis Eli Dickinson, and Ira (Ari) Edsel Dickinson. He is survived by a brother, John Davis Dickinson, and a sister, Virginia Dickinson McCrary. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 6 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 11 am in the chapel officiated by Sewell Hall.
