

Daniel K. "Kennie" Wilcox, 96, of Georgetown, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. Public visitation will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 5pm at First United Methodist Church in Georgetown, 410 E University Ave, Georgetown, TX 78626. A service celebrating the life of Mr. Wilcox will be held immediately following the visitation on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 6pm at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Steve Langford officiating. Interment to follow at IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown. Honoring Mr. Wilcox's memory serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Cockrum, Sr., Jeff Cockrum, Jr., Kenneth Davenport, Casey Lane, Wayne Lane and Randy Wieland. Kennie was born on November 9, 1916 in Georgetown, Texas to D.K. Wilcox, Sr. and Inez Dever Wilcox. Born and raised in Georgetown, he didn't stray far from home, attending Southwestern University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. After serving his country honorably during World War II as a soldier in the United States Army, he returned to Georgetown to begin his career in banking. On August 27, 1947, he married his true love, Dorothy Louise Kilgore, to whom he was married for 54 years until her death in 2002. Kennie was active in Georgetown, serving as Vice-President of the First National Bank in Georgetown for 34 years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the Georgetown Country Club, the Georgetown Optimist Club and the First United Methodist Church in Georgetown. He was an avid golfer and was especially proud of the two holes-in-one that he achieved during his lifetime. Kennie is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, and his daughter, Rebecca Wilcox Cockrum. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his grandsons: Byron Davenport of Billings, Montana; Kenneth Davenport of Seguin, Texas; grandson Jeff Cockrum, Jr. of Georgetown; granddaughter Ashley Cockrum of Georgetown, and great-granddaughters, Abigail Skye Cousins and Amber Davenport, along with a host of loving family and friends.
