

Dorothy was born May 30, 1929 in Sealy, Texas, the daughter of Louise Nitschke and Robert Nitschke. She met her late husband of 66 years, Lee Stowell Hagen, in 1947. They later married in Houston on March 5, 1949. She retired from the University of Texas in 1989 after 22 years of service. They later moved to Georgetown where she volunteered at the Georgetown Hospital for 18 years. She and Lee were also members of the Pathfinders of the First Methodist Church.
In 2007 they moved to Bryan, Texas where they joined the First Methodist Church and Dorothy volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital. During their marriage they traveled to numerous places such as, Canada, Alaska, Germany, Mexico, Switzerland, and many others.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 66 years, Lee Stowell Hagen.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Selter and husband David of Bryan; two grandchildren, Chris Selter of Beaumont, and Michelle Selter of Bryan.
A graveside service was held Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill Cemetery in Pflugerville under the direction of The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley.
