Dr. Thompson attended Southwest Texas State University for his undergrad, and graduated from the University of Texas Medical Branch At Galveston in 1989 with his doctoral degree. He opened Georgetown Family Health Clinic in Georgetown, Texas and specialized in Family Medicine. Dr. Thompson was affiliated with Saint David's Medical Center and St David's Georgetown Hospital.
Doctor Thompson loved his patients and worked up until his passing. He was also a big blues enthusiast. He created the record label Doc Blues Records and published eight records between 2001 and 2005. Doc even had an orange tabby named Muddy Waters for eighteen years. Dr. Thompson’s sudden passing came as a shock and we will surely miss him and are deeply heartbroken. We will always cherish Jim’s stories, his kindhearted nature, and his great sense of humor. Dr. Thompson is survived by his ex-wife and best friend Mahsheed Thompson, his two daughters, Mariam Thompson and Rebecca Cannon, and his “right hand man” at the practice, Leslie Jimenez.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 12 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown, TX. Visitation will be from 2-3, followed by kind words from family and friends at 3. Dr. Thompson’s family plans to spread his ashes in private throughout the San Marcos River.
