Elaine Stephens

Elaine Magdelene Stephens, 82, passed away, November 4, 2015, at her home with family around her. She was born February 27, 1933, in Neyyoor, Travancore, South India to Walter and Irma Luedtke. Elaine married Ernest Stephens, Jr. on December 20, 1953 in Wolf Point, Montana. Ernie passed away in 2013 after more than 59 years of marriage. She held undergraduate and graduate degrees from North Texas State University and taught physical science, earth science and chemistry in the Garland Independent School District for 31 years. Elaine loved being with family, traveling and spending time with her many friends in Sun City. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Stephens; Ernest Stephens, III and his wife Eve, and her beloved granddaughter Wren; her brother, Walter Luedtke and his wife Darlene; her sister Charlotte Tarleton; her nieces and nephews, Butch Luedtke, Cathy Ballard, Mark Luedtke and Lavaune Gong; and her faithful companion Ava, her German Shepard. The family wants to express special thanks to her caregivers from Hospice Compassus, Mo, Tish, Rob and Chardell and to Dr. Beth Hellerstedt and staff at Texas Oncology and Dr. David Fogelman at MD Anderson Cancer Center. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Christ Lutheran Church, 510 Luther Drive, Georgetown, Texas.
