

Joan was born on October 18, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Albert and Elsie Zobel. She later moved to Austin, Texas with her parents, where she grew up and graduated from Austin High School. She attended the University of Texas and went on to pursue a career in interior design, where her natural talent and refined eye for beauty set her apart.
In 1960, Joan was featured as a model in Vogue Pattern Magazine—just one reflection of the elegance and creativity she carried throughout her life. She built a career in interior design across the Austin and Georgetown areas, bringing warmth, beauty, and sophistication into the homes of many.
Joan later moved to Georgetown, Texas where she devoted herself to raising her family and creating a loving home. She was a dedicated homemaker, a woman of grace, and someone who found joy in the details that made life beautiful.
She is survived by her children: Lorri Romie and Leonard of Troutdale, Oregon; Russ Rutledge and Tracy of Georgetown, Texas; and JJ Sirmons and David of Heflin, Alabama. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia O’Quinn; her niece, Tracy O’Quinn; and her nephew, Connor O’Quinn.
Joan also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Kate Romie, Tristen Rutledge, Lakelyn Sirmons, and Avery Sirmons.
She had a special love for her pets, and her beloved cats, Strawberry and Velvet, brought her great comfort and companionship.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Elsie Zobel.
Joan will be remembered for her elegance, her artistic spirit, and the beauty she brought into the lives of those around her. Her legacy lives on in her family and in the many spaces she touched with her creativity and care.
Private family gathering will be held.
Remembrances may be made to the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter in Georgetown, Texas.
