

Elizabeth "Liz" Payne Ramsel (July 11, 1924 - August 28, 2015) Elizabeth "Liz" Payne Ramsel, 91, of Georgetown entered into rest August 28, 2015. Liz was born in Houston, TX, on July 11, 1924, to William McCoy Payne & Willie Elizabeth Clarke Payne. She grew up in Houston, graduating from Mirabeau B. Lamar high school in 1942. She attended the University of Houston for one year before she met her handsome Marine, William "Dub" Barry Ramsel, while he was on leave during World War II. They soon married on October 9, 1943. After Dub completed his military service, the family moved to College Station, TX, where he graduated from Texas A&M. After having two children, Sherry and Bill, the family moved to El Paso, TX, and then to Georgetown, TX, where Liz completed her degree in Elementary Education from Southwestern University in Georgetown. She taught elementary school in Georgetown for 25 years, where she was a most loved teacher. The family worshipped regularly and were very active at First United Methodist Church in Georgetown. Liz always enjoyed people and especially loved to talk and talk. She knew no strangers and would talk to just about anyone! Liz is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dub, of 68 years; and her son, Bill. She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Sherrill Ann Ramsel Wilkison (Richard) of Austin; grandchildren: Steve Tulk (Tanya), Jim Tulk (Jennifer), Laura Ramsel, & Deanna Jezisek (Mark); plus 9 awesome great-grandchildren who adored their A'Mommy. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Gabriel's Funeral Chapel & Crematory in Georgetown on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015. There will be a service to celebrate Liz's life and faith at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 3, at the First United Methodist Church of Georgetown. There will be a reception at the church before taking Liz to join her husband in eternity at the IOOF Cemetery in Georgetown. The family suggests memorials made be made in Liz's memory to: Wesleyan Hospice, First United Methodist Church of Georgetown, or the Wesleyan Benevolent Fund.
