Glenn Alvin Earnest, 73, of Georgetown passed away on June 5, 2011. A memorial service celebrating Glenn's life will be held at 2 p.m., June 7 at Heritage Baptist Church, 1601 FM 971, Georgetown, TX. Glenn was born January 1, 1938 in Elk Creek, West Virginia, a place he lovingly referred to as his "childhood playground," to the late Clay and Georgie Harless Earnest. He honorably served his country for three and a half years in the Army. Glenn married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Shirley Ann Morock, in 1958. They soon relocated to Lincoln, Nebraska where he worked as a machinist and raised a family. He semi-retired in 2004, and moved to his son-in-law and daughter's ranch in Georgetown. He still enjoyed working part-time, and started his own tool sharpening business. He delighted in the simple pleasures of life: tinkering with new gadgets, playing with his beloved Lhasa Apso, Peppy, working crossword puzzles, and taking frequent trips to browse the Dollar Store. He treasured his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Glenn leaves behind his devoted wife of 53 years, Shirley Earnest; his children, Ron Earnest and wife Karen, of Lincoln; Cynthia Garcia and her husband, Albert, of Georgetown; his brothers and sisters, Edward Earnest and wife Betty, Robert Earnest and wife Edith, Patsy Mullens and husband Harold, Brenda Johnson and husband Cecil, and Betty Toler and husband Bronzey; grandchildren, Daniel Earnest, Jessica Rassette and husband Tom, Sara Duran and husband Michael, Albert Garcia IV, Brandon Ullman, and Nicholas Ullman; great-grandsons Ronnie and Thomas Rassette; along with a host of loving friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Pamela Sue Earnest, brothers Russell and Jerry Earnest, and sister Janet Earnest. Memorial donations in Glenn's memory should be sent to the American Cancer Society. Personal words of comfort may be sent to the family online at www.gabrielsfuneral.com.
