James Ross Tucker reached the age of 58 years, 7 months and 6 days. James passed away at home in Hutto, Texas on August 13, 2023. James was born in Georgetown, Texas on January 28, 1965 to Duff Ross Tucker and Mable “Lou” Saunders.
James was preceded in death by his mother Lou, his father Duff, his sister Margaret Tucker and his father-in-law Harold Barber.
Siblings. James had plenty! growing up, he was often referred to as the runt in the family because he was the youngest boy and God didn’t bless him with the same height that his brothers and sisters boasted! He made up for it by trying to be the orneriest one of the bunch, often succeeding at that title. He would laugh in your face during a good old fashioned whoopin’ and then turn around and do the same misdeed again out of spite and pure delight. James was the common denominator sibling in a blended family that consisted of several households over the years. He had his older half siblings in one household, his older half-sister and younger full sister in one household, and then his younger half-sister and step siblings in another household.
James is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 31-years, Lori Barber Tucker, sons Matthew Jones of Austin, Texas; Kevin Tucker of Hutto, Texas; Justin Tucker (Tory) of Hutto, Texas; Derek Spencer of Round Rock, Texas; Aaron Barber (Rachael) of Elgin, Texas; and last but never least, his one and only daughter, the apple of his eye, Kaylinn Shea Tucker of Austin.
James was a proud Poppie to 8 grandchildren; Clayton Conkle, Mikkayla, Madilyn and Brayden Barber of Elgin, Texas; and Dakota, Corbin, Easton and Brooklyn Tucker of Austin, Texas. James always had a certain twinkle in his eye when recounting memories and talking about his grandchildren. He loved being a Poppie.
James’ family tree was fruitful, to say the least, and he was loved and cherished by each.
His surviving siblings: brothers Kenneth Ross Tucker (Martha) of Victoria, Texas; Ronald Duff Tucker of Buchanan Dam, Texas; Joel Alan Tucker (Denise) of Liberty Hill, Texas; Frank Bernhardt of Round Rock, Texas; Tommie Bernhardt (Lauren) of Round Rock, Texas; sisters Jennifer Kay Prince of Milford, Ohio; Debra Ann Tucker of Bertram, Texas; Elizabeth Ann Tucker Denson of Liberty Hill, Texas; Tessie Ann Dillard (Dean) of Phoenix, Arizona, Mother-in law Dolores Barber, sister-in-law Linda Beery (Jamie), and brother-in-law Clayton Barber, all of Rockdale, Texas. James is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews that he loved dearly. James was blessed with not one but two bonus mothers, Billie Bird Amidon and Patricia Ann Tucker, both of whom he loved dearly and he fondly called mom.
James never met a stranger, wherever he went he would undoubtedly run into someone he knew and would stand and talk, talk and talk some more. He had countless friends that he also considered part of his family. He would be there with helping hands for family and friends.James accepted Jesus into his heart at the age of 12 while at church camp with his siblings Joel and Debra at Pot-o-Gold Ranch, Comfort, Texas. He was baptized at Bible Baptist Church in Lampasas, Texas on July 24, 1977.
James was inducted as a Freemason in 1999 and was proud to be a part of the brotherhood and fraternity of the Hubbard City Masonic Lodge #530 in Hubbard, Texas. He remained an active member for over 22 years.
Naturally, James fell right in line with his dad and several older brothers that knew their way around machinery, mechanics and welding. He worked for Wilson Oxygen, Airgas, Praxair, Etox Welding, and NUC02 companies for the largest part of his career. Most recently James worked for Rental One / Texas First Rentals as a certified heavy equipment mechanic.
