Jerry “J.R.” Albert Rogers, 70 of Leander, Tx was born on October 2, 1951 in Queens, NY to Antonie “Nita” & Barney Rogers. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 17, 2022 after a short battle with cancer.
J.R. grew up in various places since his Father, Barney was in the military. He got to see a lot of great places with his wonderful parents Barney & Nita and his three siblings, Shirley, Linda & Thomas. His Mom always joked she named the boys Thomas & Jerry after the cartoon “Tom & Jerry”. J.R. later settled in Amarillo, Tx where he was an avid bull rider. He rode a bull named “Juicy Fruit” that was a hard bull to handle. He would travel around attending rodeo gigs with his best friend Lucky and even lived and worked on a dude ranch near Denver Colorado. After some time away from his home in Texas he returned to Amarillo. He became the proud Dad of a little girl, Sara in 1980. He later took up Golf & was very good at it while living in Bandera, Tx. He got an Associate Degree in Country Club Management in Orlando, FL and in 1995 became the proud Dad of a baby boy, Alexander. He was also very proud of his Bonus Daughter, Samantha. In recent years he worked in sales and loved working with the people he met, as well as helping customers and the businesses he would deliver to. He loved his children, family & those close to him very much!
He is survived by his Son, Alexander Rogers and Daughter Sara (Britton) Blain; Granddaughters, Rhiannon Penna, Mackenzie, Marlee, & Madyx Blain; Brother, Thomas Rogers; Sisters, Shirley Moore & Linda Moore; Nieces, Brandy Moore, and Lisa Henry; Nephews, Jason Moore, Aaron Moore, & Ryan Moore.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonie “Nita” & Barney Rogers and Beloved Bonus Daughter, Samantha Hein.
The family would like to give a special Thank You to friends, Bruce & Larry, the medical staff at St. David’s Hospital in Round Rock and Hospice for taking such wonderful care of our Beloved Dad, Brother, Grandfather, Uncle & Friend.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Christ Episcopal Church, 3520 W. Whitestone Blvd., Cedar Park, TX 78613 with The Rev. Richard E. Pelkey officiating. J.R. had a good relationship with the Lord and we know he is in Heaven with loved ones, shining down as our guardian angel. We love and miss you so much.
We ask that any donations made in his memory be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Memory of his amazing Bonus Daughter, Samantha.
