

Judith “Judy” Gordon, 80, of Austin, Texas, passed away on October 25, 2021. Her family was by her side. She was the daughter of Carl and Bernice Kemnitz of Chicago, Illinois. She married Marshall Gordon in 1964, relocated to Coral Springs, Florida and then later to Austin, Texas in 1984. She was the loving Mother to Brittany and Brett. Her husband and son preceded her in death. Judy attended Luther North High School in Chicago, graduated from Northern Illinois University with a B. S. in Physical Education and Recreation in 1963. While in college, she was a cheerleader, an outstanding swimmer, served in many officer roles for the Women’s Recreation Association, and as a member and officer (President) of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She was an outstanding athlete and received numerous honors in swimming and in track and field prior to and during college. After college, she taught high school physical education and was the sponsor of the cheerleading squad at Maine South High School in Park Ridge, Illinois. Judy was a unique and bright star with a twinkle in her eyes. Anyone who knew her could never forget that characteristic and those moments. She had an uncanny way of making everyone feel more comfortable using her wit and enthusiasm. She was equal parts smart and funny and cared a great deal about her family. She will forever be missed but will always be that bright star, guiding her surviving daughter onward and upward.
