Louis Terry Sandefur, 64 of Georgetown, passed away on August 31, 2012. A memorial service celebrating Terry's life and his faith in Christ will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at the Georgetown Church of Christ, 1525 West University Blvd., Georgetown, with Don Davis leading the service. Honoring Terry's wishes, he will be cremated. Terry was born October 22, 1947 in Muleshoe, TX to the late Louis Theodore and Euna Jeffery Sandefur. At a young age Terry and his family moved to Hollywood, CA where he lived until he was a sophomore in high school. Terry had an adventurous spirit and moved to Saskatchewan, Canada, where he attended Western Christian College. After graduation, he returned to Texas to attend Abilene Christian University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication in 1970. It was during his studies in college that Terry met his future wife and the love of his life, Betty Margaret Fullerton in 1969. Terry and Betty were married on May 26, 1970 in Corpus Christi, TX. Terry served his country in the United States Coast Guard for six and half years as Photo Journalist. While in the military, he and Betty lived from coast to coast, in Port Isabel, TX, Pensacola, FLA, Yorktown, VA, and San Francisco, CA. After his completion of military service, Terry attended the Bear Valley School of Biblical Studies in Denver, CO, and began public ministry, serving as pulpit minister in both Moody and Leander, TX. Terry was a talented man who served others in many capacities. Following his church ministry, Terry worked in the electronics field, was a designer for Classic Soft Trim, was a Real Estate Agent for Keller Williams, and a recruiter for the United States Census. In 1998, Terry and Betty moved to Georgetown to live closer to family. In more recent years, Terry began substituting for the Georgetown Independent School District, where most of his students simply called him "Mr. S." Terry took great pride in helping shape young minds and lives for their futures. Terry and Betty have been long-time members of the Georgetown Church of Christ, where he had taught adult Bible classes. Terry had an incredible talent as a photographer and enjoyed working with his hands, whether painting on canvas, working with wood, or tinkering with computers. Through his photography, he was able to capture the world in a different light than most could see it. He also served as a volunteer for TexVet, an online resource for Texas Veterans. His special talent and loving nature will be missed by all those who knew him. Terry is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Euna Sandefur; his sister, Peggy Rogers; and his mother-in-law, Mary Margaret Fullerton.
