

Neva Lee McGuire, of Cedar Park and formerly of Georgetown, Tow, and Austin, was born on February 12, 1923, in Burton, Texas, to Adolph and Malinda Knipstein Sommerfeld. A resident of New Hope Manor Nursing Home, she passed away on April 19, 2007, at the age of 84. She attended schools in Casa Blanca, Sandia, Orange Grove, and Round Top, Texas. She moved to Austin when she was sixteen years old, providing childcare services. In December 1942, she married Robert Ellis Richardson, a local mechanic. Together they had six daughters. After Richardson’s death, she married Buddy McGuire, and moved to Tow, where she enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, and crocheting. Neva Lee was a cook and waitress by profession. She was an astute domino competitor, and loved to participate in games and activities at her residence. Neva Lee was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lillian Howell and Leona Steiger; husbands Robert Richardson and Buddy McGuire; and two daughters, Carolyn and Louise Richardson. She is survived by her four daughters, Jane Hazelton and husband, Nathan of Georgetown, Shirley Richardson and husband, Steve Lamb, of Dale, Cindy Hughey, and husband, Barry of Leander, Bobbye LaFont and husband, Rick, of Katy. She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two stepchildren, and several step-grandchildren. Visitation is Sunday, April 22, 2007, from 6:00- 8:00 P.M at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel in Georgetown, Texas. The funeral service will be on Monday, April 23, 2007, at 10:00 A.M. at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel with Reverend Karl Gronberg of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas officiating. Graveside services will be at Burnet City Cemetery in Burnet, Texas, immediately following the funeral. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rick LaFont, Steve Lamb, Nathan Hazelton, Barry Hughey, Jayson Hutchins, and Ricky LaFont. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the International Essential Tremor Foundation. The family of Neva Lee would like to thank the staff of New Hope Manor Nursing Home for the devotion, love, and excellent care extended to our Mother.
