

Owen Kenneth Johnson was born on September 18, 1920, and went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2008. Kenneth was raised in Schwertner, Texas, and in his teen years he began studies at the University of Texas. In 1942, he enlisted in the Air Force and served in World War II in Africa and Italy. In 1945, he was honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant. In August of 1945, he married Betty Sue Whitworth and began attending University of Texas again where he obtained a Business Degree followed by a Law Degree in 1948. He then moved to Wichita Falls where he served as President of the Wichita County Bar Association and was later elected by the Bar Association to serve as a District Judge. He was elected Mayor of Wichita Falls from 1960-1962. He chose not to run for a second time and went back to the practice of law for the next 52 years. Kenneth was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls where he served as an Elder for several years. In 2000, Kenneth and Betty moved back to Williamson County where he practiced law in Georgetown, Texas. Kenneth retired in November of 2007 after practicing law for over 59 years. While in Georgetown Kenneth was a member of the Rotary Club of Georgetown, a member of the Board of Directors of Schwertner State Bank, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Georgetown. Kenneth was married to Betty Sue Johnson for 55 years until her death in 2002. He married Mary Lou Johnson in 2004 until her death in May of 2007. He is survived by 3 children, Frank Johnson of Denton, Mary Ricks of Temple, and Pam McMahen of Georgetown. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2008 in Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH-35 in Georgetown. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 18, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Georgetown, 1333 W. University Ave in Georgetown with Dr. John Duncan and Dr. David Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in IOOF Cemetery with military honors.
