Phyllis Elaine Hickman

Phyllis was born on June 28th 1947 to parents Juanita and Ira Whitehead in Georgetown, TX. She attended Georgetown High School. After high school Phyllis welcomed her 5 children, Ira, Melissa, Stephanie, Leonard, and Larry.  She worked at Travis State School in Austin and Wesleyan in Georgetown in the 70s.

Phyllis married the love of her life, Allen Hickman, in 1979 and moved to Bryan/ College Station in 1980. She went on to work at Nash’s Food store as a manager throughout the 80s and then went to work for Walmart as an accountant in the cash office until she retired in 2004.

Phyllis enjoyed traveling and loved spending time in Branson, MO watching shows and sight-seeing. She also loved to play bingo and was very passionate about it. She loved being around her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and spending time with her family.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Juanita Whitehead, her husband Allen Hickman and former husbands, Leonard Whitley and Johnny Douglas. She is survived by her sister, Lana Walters and husband, Bernie, her brother, Randall Whitehead and wife, Connie. Her son, Ira Douglas and wife, Stephenie, her daughter, Melissa Erwin, her daughter Stephanie Cooke, her son Leonard Whitley and wife Beth, and her son, Larry Whitley. She is also survived by an abundance of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

There will be a Visitation Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 393 N. I-35, Georgetown, TX.  Burial will follow at Weir Cemetery.
