

Raymond Ernest Schneider, 95, of Georgetown went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 19, 2019. Raymond was born in Walburg, Texas to Ernest and Laura Schneider on May 9, 1923. He went to school in Walburg where he met the love of his life and future wife of 74 years, Lillian (Wolf) and they were married on September 14, 1944. He loved the land and farmed with Lillian at his side until he retired in 1993. In 1991, they received the Agriculturist of the Year from the Hutto Chamber of Commerce. Their love of the land continued in their retirement with a big vegetable garden every year.
Raymond was a member of Christ Lutheran Church for 71 years and served on the church council and on various committees. He was instrumental in the building of the current church facility. He had a heart to serve and always helped in any way he could. Spending time with family and friends were an important part of Raymond’s life. He loved listening and dancing to polka music and was proud of his German heritage. He enjoyed playing dominoes, fishing and an occasional vacation trip. He loved all sports and really enjoyed going to the Round Rock Express games.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Dick and Lenard, sisters Lee Ethel Richter and Adelen Kelm. He is survived by his wife, Lillian, daughters Sheila Smith (Dave) of Round Rock, Bonnie Schaefer (Wayne) of Georgetown, son Jerry (Edna) of Corinth, Tx; brothers Lee and Archie, sister Iola Sturm; grandchildren Debra Rhodes (John), Jeffrey Smith (Christie), Kevin Schneider (Melissa) Eric Schneider (Courtney), Kyle Schaefer (Melony) and Kristin Braesicke (Miles); great grandchildren, Sarah, Joshua and James Rhodes, Mateo and Crispin Schneider, Preslie and Vaughn Smith and Levi Braesicke.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, Feb 22 at The Gabriels Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb 23 at 2:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church, Georgetown, Texas. Burial will be at I.O.O.F Cemetery, Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his name to Christ Lutheran Church of Georgetown.
