

Bob McMurrer of Georgetown, Texas left this world on December 10, 2015.. He was born in Quantico, VA on August 12, 1956 to Lawrence V. McMurrer and Carol Othote McMurrer of Wakefield, RI.
He was raised on Long Island, NY and after high school began training in massage therapy. His studies were interrupted while he travelled cross country with a high school friend. He joined the Army and moved to Ft. Hood where he worked as a medic. While in the Army, he married and in 1981 his son Sean Patrick McMurrer was born (Sean passed April 2014). After leaving the Army he went to Central Texas College where he graduated 1st in his nursing school class. As an RN, he started working for Heart of Texas Hospice and in 1991 met the love of his life, Susan Dittmar. They married in Corpus Christ, TX on 10/10/1992. In 1993, Bob began working for Austin Hospice so Bob and Susan moved to Georgetown. While in Georgetown, Bob pursued several types of martial arts.
In September of 1994, Bob decided once again to follow his journey into therapeutic massage. He studied at the Lauterstein-Conway School of Massage Therapy in Austin Texas. In spring of 1995, Bob opened his practice and proudly served the Georgetown community until the time of his death. Over those 20 years he became certified in medical massage, Thai massage, and advanced clinical sports/orthopaedic massage. He had many dedicated clients, each grateful for his healing hands. Until 2013 Bob continue working as a RN in a hospital setting and worked at Georgetown Hospital and then at Seton Williamson county. Over the last decade, Bob mixed his love of music, his massage talent, and his wish to support singer/songwriters by volunteering for 3 weeks at the beginning of each summer at the Kerrville Folk Festival at CureVille which provided alternative medicine and relaxation for the Kerrville volunteers.
Bob was a man of few words, a big heart, and a dry sense of humor. He was a great story teller and could make you laugh with his various impersonations. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Susan Dittmar of Georgetown, his three cats –Roxi, Lisa, and Annie, his mother, Carol J. McMurrer of RI, his sisters-Eileen McMurrer and her 3 children of Hartford, CT and Kathleen Huntington and her husband and 3 children of Newcastle, ME as well as his grandson, Brighton Wulbrecht of West Bend, WA.

A Memorial Service will be held January 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church on Wells Branch Parkway. Please bring your guitars, photos and stories as we remember Bob and his life.
