Bob was born on April 19, 1941, in Runge, Texas, the third of six rambunctious children raised on a farm along the banks of the San Antonio River. He was the son of Alfred Pargmann and Frances (Sucher) Pargmann.
Bob married the love of his life, Virginia Hruska, on June 23, 1962, in Frenstat, Texas. He quickly became part of her larger Aggie-loving family and joined the cherished Hruska tailgate tradition—participating as recently as this past football season. He was part of the H-E-B Tailgaters of the Year at Texas A&M.
Bob and Virginia had two sons Darrell and Allen. They are caring grandparents to Benjamin, Harrison, Hannah, Grant and Holden. As well as Godparents to numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
Bob graduated from Runge High School in 1959 and attended Nixon-Clay Business School in Austin. He worked for the Lower Colorado River Authority for 27 years as a lineman and retired as Line Construction Superintendent. Today, many of us drive under the very lines he helped install.
Bob loved fishing, gardening, and working in his workshop. He was a devoted supporter of his children and grandchildren and took special pride in their involvement in Scouting. He also had a deep love for the outdoors and a passion for visiting national parks, having traveled to many throughout his life. He taught his grandsons the fine art of fishing (and catching), which many still enjoy today. For many years he gardened at the Community Gardens and delighted in sharing his harvest with friends.
Bob was a faithful member of St. Helen Catholic Church and was active in the Knights of Columbus, the St. Helen Senior Group, and the Kolache Bake Team. He served as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound and helped with Vacation Bible School. Alongside Virginia, he supported many community and service organizations, including the Georgetown Garden Club, Christ Child Society, San Gabriel Woman’s Club, Our Lady of the Rosary Cemetery, and Back Pack Buddies. He was also a member of the Austin Czech Historical Association.
Bob is survived by his wife, Virginia; his sons, Darrell (Marsha Green) and Allen; his grandchildren, Benjamin, Harrison, Hannah, Grant, and Holden; his brothers Gilbert and Gerald (Lee); and his sisters Alfreda Gisler, Wilma (Bob) Ferry, and Margie Dominguez; brother-in-law and wife, Stanley and Mary Frances Hruska; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Helen Catholic Church in Georgetown, Texas, on January 6, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., the Rosary will be at 9:40 a.m., and the Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow at St. Helen’s St. Rita Activity Center.
