

Ruth Sult Foster went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. She was 104 years old. She was a long term resident at the Georgetown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A memorial service celebrating her long life will be held at St. John’s United Methodist Church with Dr. Kent Marrs officiating and Pastor David Gauthier assisting on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Ruth was born on May 13, 1905 in Berwick, Pennsylvania to the late Lloyd Franklin Sult and Mary Elizabeth Stifnagle Sult. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Ted” Foster in 1947 and her brother Leonard W. Sult. Ruth was a graduate of Berwick High School and Bloomsburg State Normal School. She taught for a few years and then supported her parents as a clerk at the AC&F Company Store during the Great Depression. She was a member of the Berwick First Presbyterian Church where she volunteered in the church nursery. Ruth was fond of literature and poetry, and a published author of several children’s short stories. Ruth is survived by two sons, Robert Lee Foster of Berwick, Pennsylvania and Richard Allen Foster of Round Rock, Texas. Her memory is also cherished by her four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
