Shirley Adams McCoy passed away on May 10, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Thanks to the tender care of Marina Cook and Campassus Hospice, Shirley died at home with her children grateful to spend time with her before she left this life. Shirley was born June 4th 1946 in Abilene, TX. After marrying the love of her life, Mike McCoy, in 1972, and living in a number of cities, they settled in Taylor, TX thirty years ago. It is here she found her true home and sense of community. In addition to working in the housing and funeral industries, Shirley, together with Mike, operated the McCoy House Frame Shop. However, Shirley was best known for her involvement in numerous local organizations including the Taylor Garden Club, Moody Museum, and Junior Women’s Study Club. She was a presence for many years at the local donut shop and was known for her amazing cooking and entertaining skills. It is also in Taylor that Shirley rediscovered faith and committed her life to her Savior. The love she shared with Mike was a cornerstone of her life, and it fills her loved ones with peace knowing Shirley is with Mike again up in Heaven. The family is grateful to all of those who made Shirley’s life so joyful during the good times and easier in the hard years of her disease and recent cancer treatment. While her memories faded at the end, the generosity of spirit from Shirley’s friends, neighbors and the congregation of Christ Fellowship Church will not be forgotten by those of us who loved her.
Shirley is survived by her brother Mike Adams (Terri), sister Patty Adams, children Angela Schultz (Tom), Tiffani McCoy (Alan Johnson) and Dylan McCoy (Tonia). She is also survived by her grandchildren Taylor, Nathan, Kira, Kristyn and Michael as well as eight great grandchildren.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Michael David McCoy, father, J.D., mother, Dotty, and sister Pam.
