

Velma Enoree O’Dell Lindeman Evenson, 77, of Georgetown, Texas passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, October 13, 2011. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, Texas. A service celebrating Velma’s life will be held at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Maxdale Cemetery. Velma was born November 9, 1933 in Beaumont, Texas to the late Ira Leonard and Minnie Jewell Thornton O’Dell. Velma was raised in the Maxdale community. Her family moved to the Bartlett area, where she graduated from Bartlett High School. Velma played half court women’s basketball at Bartlett High School. She was a big fan of UT girls basketball and could be found cheering in the audience when the girls were playing. Velma herself would tell you that she bled orange. She also showed her support by being a longtime supporter of the UT Longhorn Foundation. Velma had a true loved to dance, especial country western dancing. She was a great dancer and it is certain she is dancing in Heaven today. As a young girl she and her family attended church at the Maxdale Baptist Church. Velma worked for over 30 years for Tracor/Baker Hughes Company in Austin, upon her retirement; she was the Executive Administrative Assistant to the Area President. It was said that if you met Velma you loved her. She always had a smile on her face and a “Hi Babe” ready to come out of her mouth to all she knew and would meet. If Velma was in your life, you were truly blessed. She was a single Mom most of her life and I promised you would find her ready to brag about any of her 4 kids, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She truly lived to love her family. She never missed a baseball game, basketball game, or drill team on the football field. She was always there to cheer on and show her pride and love for her family. Velma was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Evenson; her mother and her father, Jewel and Ira O’Dell; sister, LaNell Rincon; her nephew, Johnny Dahl. Velma leaves behind to cherish her memory and honor her legacy her loving sister, Juanice Dahl and her husband Wes; her children, Rickey Lee Lindeman and his wife Anne Marie of Georgetown, Susan Juanelle Kemp and her husband Richard of Georgetown, Leonard Gus Lindeman and his wife JoAnne of Lubbock, and Carol Elaine Lindeman Aragon of Austin; 7 grandchildren, Blake Lindeman and his wife Megan, Blaine Lindeman and his wife Sara, Susan Aragon, Tiffani Wampler and her husband Travis, Jennifer Mimms and her husband Allen, Dennis Lindeman and Rush Kemp; 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; many nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.
