A private celebration of Vernon's life will be held at a later date.
He was born in Manor, Texas, February 2, 1921, the son of Fleet Taylor and Tennie (Rucker) Taylor. He married his beloved wife, Jewel Carlisle Taylor, May 23, 1951 in San Antonio. Vernon honorably served his country in WWII in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945. He later went on to continue working for the U.S. Government for the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico retiring from the AEC Protective Force as a Captain in 1976
He is preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Survivors include his daughter, Cathy Taylor Lippiatt and husband Jerry of Georgetown; stepson, Walter Glasgow of Cedar Creek, TX; partner, Martha Cotton of Austin; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and extended family, Mike and Jenner Boerner of Austin and Joe and Sandra Cotton of Nederland.
