When Sharon was less than a year old her mother faced serious surgery in Boston.   Surgeons removed a tumor near one of her lungs and sent her home to "enjoy life" as best she could.  In those days that usually meant the doctor did not expect the patient to have a long life.  Janet went on to have four more children including Becky's twin, Emily, who died in childbirth.  She moved across the country, lived in various places, and seemed to thrive wherever she went.  I was always amazed at her energy and her outlook.  And I think that the picture the family chose to use in her obituary perfectly reflects her outlook on life.  It is the Janet I will always remember fondly.      Cousin Dot

I met Jan when her cousin Al and I became a couple and spent a wonderful Thanksgiving in Showlow in her beautiful log home that Jan and Fred had built together, unfortunately it was many years after Fred had passed. She was one special lady that had many accomplishments in her lifetime and I considered her a dear, dear friend. One time I had a trip alone to her new home in Glendale and we shared alot of closeness in conversation discussing our faith, our pain and forgiveness and love. I will remember her with loving thoughts all my life!

Jan. I sincerely hope that you have found what you always believed you would, and that you are back with Fred and all those who loved you and left before you. Sister, I loved you all my life. Rest in peace. 

I started babysitting for Janet when I was sixteen. It was just the brat, Sharon, and her younger sister Becky. It didn't take long for me to realize that Janet was kinda "cool" for an adult. I was quite heart broken when they said they were moving to Arizona. We did manage to get out and see them after the move. The first time we went to AZ Fred was still alive. He was a great guy. Miss him. The second time we went Janet took us on a guided tour of the Grand Canyon and many other great sites. Janet was a GREAT friend. She came out to Mass with Dodie and also alone. The last time was with Sharon and Becky. We did not have a long time together, but what we had was great. I have never had a friend that I felt closer to that Janet. I definitely loved Janet!

Going to visit "grandma in the woods" was one of my greatest memories of my childhood. Her home was warm and inviting. She took us to see Casper (an old tree that looked like a friendly ghost) and down the cinder road to the tree swing. She had a piano that first inspired my love of music. She also had an old Commodor 64 computer that she let us mess around with. We worked on doll houses too. Her spunky spirit and can do attitude was always inspiring to me. I love you Grandma and I'll miss you.

My mother is the love of all of our lives.  She was special and made us a special and wonderful family.  She taught me to work hard and be inspired by all around me.  Let me know I could be anything I ever wanted to be and to dream!  I will miss her strength and inspiration.  But what she taught me will follow me the rest of my life!  I love you Mom.
