On behalf of my family, I would like to thank everyone for coming. It has been an honor to have had such an amazing and incredible person in our lives. She was a mother, godmother, a sister, a nana, an aunt, and friend to so many. It is evident that she loved with her whole heart by seeing the amount of out pouring love returned to her and the support we have received since her passing. We’ve always known she was special. Cathy was born in Watsonville, California as Catherine Vivian Vargas. She was named by her grandmother as her mother Rosalee told her. At the age of 13, she experienced her greatest loss, her mother. Per her mother’s request, she promised to look after her three younger sisters. Two years after her mother died, she suffered another great loss, her stepfather Felix. After this, she and her sisters were separated for over 10 years. During that time, she had three children, Rosalee, Blanca and Pedro and married. She went to great lengths to find her sisters and finally reunite with them. As she said “the rest is history”. At the age of 30, she became a single mother, she became stronger than ever. She put family first and built a strong foundation. She was a mother and mother figure to everyone else as well as a confidante. She was one of a kind, as she said we were unique because not many families have the closeness that she instilled in our family. God first then family. When she would drop off her three youngest granddaughters at school, they would say “Our father” and “Hail Mary” three times with an I love you at the end. She did not see herself as an affectionate person but she really was. She was constantly telling loved ones, “love you” or stalking us over “Find my friends” or calling us saying, “how come you haven’t called?” We are blessed to have her as our rock because she will always be forever our love rock. Mom, we love you for always until we go home to you.
