Paul dedicated his life to the service of others through his work in pharmacy, which included being the proud owner and pharmacist of The Medicine Shoppe in Cypress from 1993 to 2001. His genuine care for patients and deep connection to his community left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
Paul's academic path reflected his deep curiosity and dedication to healing. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychobiology from UCLA, and went on to receive his Doctorate of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) from USC, laying the foundation for a life of meaningful service in healthcare.
Beyond his profession, Paul lived with joy, curiosity, and unshakable faith in God. He was an enthusiastic concertgoer, and especially loved smooth jazz, 50’s & 60’s top hits, Motown, and The Beach Boys, drawn to the energy and connection they brought. Over the years, he welcomed three beloved Samoyed dogs into his home, sharing his heart and unconditional love with them while treasuring every moment with his family and friends. Despite his allergy to cats, he also shared his home with one that he and Sandy found as an abandoned kitten. Above all, he loved the Lord and cherished his marriage to Sandy, the love of his life and closest companion.
Paul’s journey was marked by remarkable resilience. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 10, he faced numerous health challenges, including 3 kidney transplants, with unwavering strength and grace. Through it all, he gave full credit to his faith in Jesus Christ for carrying him through each trial. Paul was a fighter, determined and courageous, though his final battle proved too much to endure.
Born in Downey and raised in Bellflower and Montebello, California, Paul’s path led him through Santa Monica, Fresno, and ultimately to his home in Lakewood, where he lived for almost 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Popoff; his sister, Helen Morozov; brother-in-law, Gregory Smith; and nephews James Morozov, Steven Morozov, and niece, Jennifer Federoff. He was also a proud great-uncle to Sasha Morozov, Jonathan, Hannah, James, and Benjamin Federoff. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Dorothy Popoff, whose love and values helped shape his life.
Paul will be remembered for his warmth, integrity, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those he loved and served. He approached life with a twinkle in his eye and a witty remark always at the ready. Even in the toughest moments, he knew how to lighten the mood.
A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held on July 1, 2025, at Oakdale Memorial Park in Glendora, California. Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 12:00 noon.
