

Gil Trujillo was born on November 14, 1928, in San Pedro, California. He moved as a child to Azusa, California and met the love of his life Linda Corona Trujillo in 1944. After graduating from Citrus High School, he served in the California National Guard from 1945 to 1948. Gil and Linda wed in 1948 and were happily married for 56 years until Linda’s untimely death in 2005. They had three children: Linda (Wayne) Bailey, Lorraine Gray and Gilbert Anthony Trujillo. He had six grandchildren: Kyle Bailey, Brandon Bailey, Misty Gray, Sean Gray, Danielle Floyd and Matthew Trujillo. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Misty Gray. He was blessed to have six great grandchildren: Brittany Bailey, Justin Bailey, Cameron Bailey, Brenden Bailey, Elise Floyd, and Hudson Floyd and one great, great grandchild Zachariah Bailey. Gil joined the Azusa Police Department as a Patrolman in 1954 and retired in 1986 after 32 years of distinguished service as a Lieutenant in charge of Administrative Services. In 1984, He proudly served as President of the Latino Peace Officers Association of the San Gabriel Valley. After his retirement, he served as a contractor to the United States Department of State, reviewing police practices and policies as well as making recommendations to a number of Police Departments in Central America. Gil was a kind, caring and thoughtful man who always cared for his wife and children. He was a man of outstanding character and integrity, and his sense of humor was second to none. He served as a role model to his grandchildren and his legacy will continue with Kyle Bailey and Brandon Bailey following in his footsteps and pursuing a career in law enforcement. Gil passed away comfortably in his home with his family by his side. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
