Hernando “Nando” Benavides, 75, of Covina, CA, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025. He was born on October 8,1949 in Pasadena, CA to Joe and Helen Benavides. He is survived by his wife, Juanita of 57 years; two sons, Eric and Nathan. Six grandchildren, Vienna, Berlyn, Andrew, Markus, Logan, and Alex. One great grandchild, Xander. Four siblings, Jimmy Benavides, Mary DeLaPena, Dolores Krieger, and Claudia Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Benavides.
Nando retired from the City of Monrovia in 2005, after 32 years in the Public Works Department.He was a loyal and hardworking man who was respected by his fellow workers.
Nando was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He loved to BBQ and spend time with his family. Gardening and working on projects around the house were his favorite hobbies.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
