

Ingeborg was born in 1938 in Europe. The first several years were difficult for Inge and her family as the war that raged throughout Europe. In the end the family made it through the war with very few belongings but Inge, her siblings and parents all survived. Life slowly returned to a somewhat normal state and Inge finished her primary education and went on to a local business school. Inge developed many friends at this school and she remained in contact with many of them over the following decades.
After finishing business school in Germany, Inge and her sister Ruth began a dramatic new phase to their life. They hopped on a steamship headed for New York City; Inge was barely 21 years old. Her mom and dad stayed behind, as well as, her two brothers. Once in the United States the sisters made their way to Pasadena, California. They shared an apartment and it wasn’t long before Inge made at her first job at Bank of America in Los Angeles.
At roughly the same time, Raymond McElligatt, had moved to Pasadena from Detroit, Michigan and just happened to live in the apartment complex. Wasn’t long before they met, dated, fell in love and got married in 1961.
The 1960’s were a busy time for Inge and Ray. They moved to an apartment in Azusa (still there today) and had their first two children - Gary and Andrea. In 1966 they bought house in Glendora, where Sharon and Kevin were born. By 1970, they had a full house and spent the next 20 years raising the family. As the children became older Inge went back to working at a bank – first with Crocker then with Wells Fargo.

After the kids were out of the house, Inge and Ray retired and did quite a bit of traveling. Inge introduced Ray to her heritage with several trips to Europe. They also like road trips and took many trips throughout the United States
Ray passed away in 2010 and Inge focused on spending time with her family and some new found friends from church. This was a difficult time for Inge as she and Ray had been married for nearly 50 years and during their retirement that had become a much closer couple.
Inge passed away peacefully with members of her family at her side on March 12th 2020.
