I was heartbroken to hear of Jesse’s passing. I had the honor of working alongside him for over 20 years, and during that time, he became more than just a coworker, he became a friend. Our annual Thanksgiving baseball game was something I looked forward to every year, and it won’t ever be the same. I’ll always carry those memories with me. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Please know you’re in my thoughts and prayers.

Jesus worked for me as a roofer for several years. Always very easy to work with. His brother Jose also worked for me. I have very good memories of Jesus.

In Loving Memory of Chuy

Since third grade, Chuy has been a part of my story—and what a story it’s been. From those early days of getting into trouble and laughing until it hurt, to reminiscing about it all years later, he was always there. I had a wonderful childhood because of Chuy. His loyalty, humor, and heart made life feel bigger and better.

Chuy had a deep love for animals—especially his pit bulls and Frenchies, who were always part of his pack. He had a car before the rest of us, and that meant one thing: he was driving, and we were all coming along for the ride. Whether it was the drive-in theater or just rolling around town, Chuy made sure none of us were left behind.

He reminds me of that scene from The Town—Ben Affleck tells his friend, “I need a favor,” and the reply is, “Whose car are we taking?” That was Chuy in a nutshell. No hesitation, just loyalty.

Now, as hard as it is to say goodbye, I take comfort knowing he’s not alone. I know he’s with his dad and the friends who’ve gone before us—waiting to welcome him home, arms open, laughter echoing just like it used to.

Rest in peace, Chuy. You were—and always will be—my brother.
