Kenneth Percy Easter, resident of Glendora, CA passed away Thursday, August 19, 2010. Ken was born July 8, 1937 in Hallock, Minnesota to Evelyn Kocian Easter and Harris Easter. Ken moved to California in 1963 and worked as a Teacher and Basketball Coach for Lake Elsinore High School, he then began teaching in Duarte, CA where he became the Duarte High School Falcons Basketball Coach. He later met and married his wife, Kathleen Marriott Easter who survives him.
Ken was a 1955 graduate of Pembina High School and 1959 class of Moorhead college, in North Dakota. After graduation he married his college sweetheart Frances. Ken and Frances had three daughters, Tammy, Caryn and Candi. He married Kathleen A. Marriott on August 8, 1989. Ken and Kathy were devoted and loving companions, residing in their Glendora home. Ken's wife and family are profoundly grateful for the compassion and assistance given by the entire staff of Citrus Valley Hospice.
Ken spent the bulk of his career as a dedicated Coach and Teacher; though a modest man, Ken was often honored and awarded for his works.
During an active retirement, Ken enjoyed traveling back home annually to fish and hunt with family and friends. He continued his passion for golf and could be seen several times a week at the course. He was a tireless researcher of the ponies with friends at Santa Anita, Del Mar and every track in between. With Basketball running through his veins the best seat during March Madness or the NBA Championships wasn't court side but in Ken's packed family room enjoying his wealth of knowledge and home cooking that put any concession stand to shame. As a strong and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and great-uncle, Ken's unconditional caring and none judgmental personality was a great example to all. He cherished his wide correspondence of lifelong friends and his door was always open.
In addition to his wife and three daughters, Kenneth P. Easter is survived by his sister: Linda Windt Easter of Alta Loma, CA; his step daughter: Toni Marriott Gordon and her two children Zachary and Kenedi Gordon of Carlsbad, CA, as well as his two grandchildren: Roxanne and Dane and three great-grandchildren.
