Madge "Nana" Cerny

Magna A. Cerny, aged 97, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2017. She was a first generation American. Magna was born at home in Trenton, New Jersey to Italian immigrants Ralph and Maria Petito. She was the ninth of twelve children.

She met and married Edward Cerny in 1945. Magna and Edward bought and ran a small neighborhood grocery store in Trenton, New Jersey from 1946 - 1957. In 1957 they moved to El Monte, California, where they raised their three children. She lived in the La Verne/Glendora area from 1986 through her passing.

Well into her 90s, Magna enjoyed her travels to Florida and Lake Havasu as well as many family gatherings and celebrations. She had a loving heart and a warm smile for everyone.

Magna will be greatly missed by her loving family: daughter, Lynn Brod (Bill); son, Edward Cerny; daughter, Eileen Clark (Mike); granddaughter, Jennifer Watson (John); grandson, Jason Brod (Nicole); grandson, Tevan Stremel; grandson, Tyler Stremel (Christina); granddaughter, Heather Cerny; granddaughter, Erin Moffitt (Brian) and grandson, Brian Clark. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Addison Brod; Kathleen Cerny; Kylie and Peyton Moffitt.
