We, your children, are deeply grateful for our mom, Marcella Clemmer. As we say goodbye, we find ourselves reflecting on the many years we shared with you and on the quiet, lasting ways you shaped our lives and the lives of so many others.
You loved us and trusted us. You wanted us to be happy, healthy, and true to ourselves. You stood behind us unfailingly, believing that each of your children should be free to live the best life they imagined.
You taught us that mistakes were not failures, but opportunities to grow. You encouraged honesty, inclusion, and compassion. You showed us how to see others clearly and kindly, to reach out to those less fortunate, and to celebrate the beauty of our differences.
You nurtured creativity and imagination allowing your home to transform into blanket tents, forts, sailboats, theaters, and even a garage band, all while the smell of chocolate chip cookies filled the kitchen. You encouraged us to use our minds, to learn new things, and to challenge ourselves to grow and change the world around us.
You taught by example. You instilled in us the importance of caring for others, filling our lives with tolerance, generosity, and empathy. You taught us the joy of good food and good company, and your door was always open especially to those who needed a place to belong during special family moments.
Your love for family was incredibly strong. It radiated through your devotion to your husband, Nana and Grandpa, your dear sisters, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and, most of all, to your children and their spouses, your grandchildren and their spouses, and all of your great-grandchildren. You were there when we needed you as adults, helping us navigate the early days of new parenthood and welcoming our spouses into the family as if they had always been a part of us. Our kids eagerly anticipated coming to see “Grandma Marcie” for family gatherings.
Mom, we cherish the memories of our childhood and the memories we continue to make. Your spirit, your values, and your love live on within each of us now and forever.
With love, Cindy, Nancy, Doug (in memoriam), and Cathy
