Sherry and family! My prayers of strength and comfort for the sudden loss of Sal...and for celebration for the fun fond memories Sal helped create and share!
Sal was my barber for 42 years, from 1979, being introduced to him by Bill Berry, who was the Service Manager of Rogers Toyota, at the time. I was a Service Advisor at the same dealership. During the late 80s and early 90s I frequently to brought my 2 children, Matt (son) and Alex (daughter) with me when I went for my bi-monthly haircuts. Sal was the only one who cut my hair from 1979 on! In the early 90s, when Alex was about 5 years old, and Sal had moved his barber shop to its present location on Cypress Ave. Sal was working from the back room at that time and he had a gum ball machine there in the room. My daughter Alex put in all the pennies I happen to have (15) into the machine attempting to get a pink gum out, with no success but a lot of laugher from Sal and me. My next appointment, Alex came with me, from our Alta Loma home, also. After 5 - 10 attempts at the gum machine again, in hope of a pink gum ball, with out success again, Sal, had prepared a bag of pink gum balls for Alex in advance and gave it to her! Alex was so happy and burned an incredible fun memory for her! On January 14, 2021 Alex came with me with her 5 year old son, Liam to meet Sal and have his hair cut with Sal, along with me! I am sharing a picture collage of that fun visit. 
My last appointment with Sal was on 08.05.21, a few days before he passed. He was in great spirits as usual and shared that he was looking forward to another cruise with Sherry!
I am so grateful that Sal was a great long part of my and my family's life the recent 42 years! Paul Orr

Cheryl.  I know everyone calls you Sherry but at work u were called Cheryl.  I cannot express how sorry I am at your loss of Sal.  I know how deeply you loved him.  We were very close friends at CVUSD for 15 years and spent most lunches together.  Time after time you spoke of your dear Sal.  He would send you flowers, take u dancing and plan get-away weekends.  I know your girls will be with you but if you want to talk, give me a call.  I love you.

We had such an amazing weekend this past summer with Pops Rappa in Las Vegas. He wanted a steak dinner, and a steak dinner we had. He was so funny, great company, and so much wisdom to learn from him. Such an amazing person to be around…. We loved every minute with him on our little vacay and will miss his open arms, kindness, generosity, laughter, and accommodation. Pops Rappa is everything a girl wished her Father was.

I have known Sal and Sheri for over 50 years. I had the pleasure to be in the wedding party in September 1969 when I lived in Illinois. Great memories and fun times. I was adopted into the family as Aunt Terri when I came to visit during those summer months.  You all are in our thoughts and prayers.

Sal was my barber for 47 years (He was the only  one I would let cut my hair).  My wife and I are Chicago natives and Sal and I had many conversations about the City and especially the Cubs.  I also new his brother who owned the restaurant in Chicago I loved his pizza. The restaurant was close to my home in Chicago. We also patronized Franks restaurant on Grand  and Badillo in Covina.  We had the pleasure of  dining out with Sherry and Sal.  In our conversations at the barber shop Sal would speak proudly of his wife and family, he loved them dearly.  Sal will be greatly missed.  May he rest in Peace.

Hello Sherry. I heard about Sal I'm so sorry and my deepest condolences to you and your family.  He was one of the Ángels that we all have in our lifetimes. He was my barber when I was a young man and he was the only one that would cut my hair!! I bought 2 cars  from him and the restaurant that is still there in San Dimas! He was a straight up man!! And that's how I remember him!! He was funny and caring. Sal is the kind of man we we can all l learn something from.  May he Rest In Peace! God bless his soul!

I only had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Rappa a few times BUT, he was  a Man’s Man who made BIG Impressions.

We’ve had the pleasure of being Sal & Sherry’s neighbors for 23 years, and they are wonderful people who love to have fun & love life. Sal will be truly missed; we always enjoyed his company  while having a beer around a fire pit, and always laughing. He was hilarious, and we loved to hear his stories. May he always be remembered too for proudly serving our country. Rest in peace Sal. 

I was saddened to learn of Sal's recent passing.  Sal and Sherri are salt of the earth people.  Great parents to Leslie, Tamette, and Serena and loving Grandparents.  Sal served his country honorably as a Vietnam Vet.  He was a Chicago native and a big Cubs fan (nobody's perfect).  That said, he was a great guy with a big heart, sense of humor, and made the best pizzas from scratch that I've ever had.  Rest in paradise Sal!


Have known Sal & Sherri for over 40yrs. They were always laughing & joking. Sal said we could play golf at his club. I was at Glendora CC at the right time and waited and waited. Asked the starter if Sal Rappa had a Tee Time,  said he never heard of him.Turned out Sal's Club was Via Verde. We all laughed about that. At the least Sal was a character, and will be missed.

What a wonderful gift it was to meet Sal and Sherri when we joined VVCC. Precious times.
