

Thomas was born April 14, 1935 in Evansville, Indiana to parents Frederick and Doris (Nicolai) Seelig. Thomas attended Washington High School in Pasadena, CA. During the Korean War in his senior year at the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Army. Thomas served 3 years active duty as a paratrooper in the states. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Charlotte Norman of Richmond Virginia, at a USO dance. They were happily married for 56 years before her passing in 2010. After serving 3 years in the army, Thomas enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served at many bases including California, Germany, and Colorado. After leaving the Air Force, Thomas worked for the County of Los Angeles in the communications Dept. working his way up to Division Chief. He retired after 27 years of service. Thomas also joined the Air National guard retaining his rank as Staff Sergeant and retired with military pay. He also joined and worked as a reserve deputy sheriff for the Los Angeles County out of the San Dimas substation for 13 years.
After his retirement, he and Charlotte spent many years traveling across the United States and Alaska in their RV. They also went on cruise ships and to Hawaii and later traveled the United States by train. He recently went to Germany to visit his heritage and meet distant relatives.
Thomas is survived by three sons, Thomas Seelig Jr. of Texas, David Seelig and Timothy Seelig of California and four daughters with Charlotte; Debra Nix, Donna Seelig, Cynthia Seelig, and Sharon Mulick all of California and another daughter discovered in 2016 through an Ancestry search, Laura (Johnson) Echols of Arizona. From his seven children with Charlotte, he is survived by 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Through his daughter Laura, he is survived by 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Thomas is survived by twin brothers, James and John Seelig of California. Thomas is also survived by half-sister Sandra Holling of California, and a half-brother Edward Seelig of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Doris Seelig, his older brother Phillip Seelig and his wife and soul mate Charlotte Seelig.
A visitation for Thomas will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 1401 S Grand Ave, Glendora, CA 91740. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 27, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Oakdale Memorial Chapel.
