Virginia “Sue” Louise Barajas was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on January 25, 2021 at the age of 76 from COVID in Arcadia, California.
She was born to the late Carl and Louise Duncan on September 18, 1944 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Sue married the love of her life Catalino “Tino” Barajas at the age of 17. While being a military spouse with her husband in the Army for 30 years, stationed in Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina and Washington, Sue was always active in the military community. She would help any family in need. During this time, they enjoyed every assignment meeting and making lasting friendships with many military families. Sue and Tino settled in Victorville, California after retirement.
Sue is survived by her loving husband Tino Barajas of nearly 58 years. On their 55th wedding anniversary, Sue and Tino renewed their vows with their 3 sons and 3 daughters standing by their side. Tino gave Sue the wedding she always dreamed about.
She is also survived by her children and spouses: Barney Barajas (Sherry) of Beckley, West Virginia; Maria Zubiate (Louis) of Victorville, California; Robert Barajas (Courtney) of Sherman, Texas; Paul Barajas (Anita) of Covina, California; Paula Comisford (Michael) of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; and Susan Hamil (Mark) of Greenwood, Indiana. Sue had 22 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Sue was always happy being surrounded by her family.
Sue had six brothers, spouses and partner: Gene Duncan (Barbara), Frankie Duncan (Betty), Jerry Duncan, Robert “Butch” Duncan (Mike), Eddie Duncan (Kathy), and David Duncan (Carla). She was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, Frankie and Butch. Sue also has many nieces, nephews, and cousins that loved her dearly.
Over the years she has developed long lasting friends. Sue loved good food and socializing, playing bingo, cards, bunco, crafts, slot machines and spending time with her family and friends. She always had a wonderful smile on her face that would light up a room. She will be dearly missed by everyone that loved her.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Oakdale Memorial Park, 1401 South Grand Avenue, Glendora, California and burial will immediately follow at the same location.
