Gerry M. Laramie Boyd, 86, passed peacefully on May 28, 2026 losing her 20-year struggle with Parkinson's Disease that slowly but surely stripped her of virtually all her life's pleasures. She was born in Nespelem WA on July 21, 1939, to Joseph Laramie and Lena Jane Laramie.
Gerry attended St Mary's Mission Catholic Boarding School, near Omak, WA during grade and junior high school and then Inchelium High School. It was during her high school freshman year that Gerry's best friend, Nancy Rosenbaum, dramatically altered the trajectory of Gerry's life when she happened to have Gerry to run into the handsome Larry Boyd at the Ferry County Fair. Larry and Gerry married during her senior year, October 12, 1957, a marriage lasting 63 years until Larry died in 2021.
After her children, Lorena and Charlene, were born, Larry and Gerry moved to Nespelem for Larry's work and then to Spokane while Larry earned his AA in Forestry. While in Spokane, Gerry earned her AA in Office Administration at Kelsy Baird secretarial school. Gerry adhered to the strict dress code Kelsy Baird required, walking over 1 mile to and from school in a skirt, nylons and pumps.
Upon returning to Nespelem Gerry worked in BIA Realty, for the Tribal Attorney and was the administrative assistant to the BIA Superintendent. She was proud of her administrative role in all the offices she worked in during her career. As a proud member of the Colville Confederated Tribes, Lakes Band, Gerry served on the Tribal Business Council and the Tribal Gaming Commission.
Larry and Gerry greatly enjoyed the company of their many friends and family and the life-style afforded them on the Colville Reservation. Gerry was a voracious reader, cross-stitcher, knitter and a consummate consumer of current events. Larry and Gerry were top-tier sports fans, cheering for the Sonics, Mariners, Seahawks, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Inchelium Hornets and Lake Roosevelt Raiders. They attended the State B high school basketball in Spokane year after year. But all that devotion paled in comparison to their cheering for their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in all sports and school activities throughout the state.
After retirement Gerry and Larry enjoyed traveling throughout the US in their motor home and were Snowbirds in Yuma Arizona for 15 years.
Perhaps Gerry's greatest achievement, aside from her parenting two successful college-educated women, was the tender, loving and steadfast care for Larry during the last years of his losing battle to prostrate cancer. Visitors would find Larry and Gerry in their twin recliners, holding hands. While Gerry passed only recently, it was Larry's passing in 2021 when the spark of life left Gerry. Now, Larry's and Gerry's souls are united in heaven.
Gerry was pre-deceased by Larry, her parents and 3 siblings. She is survived by 3 siblings, her daughters, Lorena (Allan Galbraith) and Charlene Desautel (JR), 5 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at St Michael's Mission in Inchelium. The Rosary will be on Friday, June 12th at 7 pm; Mass will be on Saturday, June 13h at 10 am, followed by interment at the Hall Creek Cemetery.
